Troop Camp Certification

Troop Camp Certifications are required camping education credentials for adult volunteers supervising girls in approved group camping and outdoor experiences and are provided by Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council. See Safety Activity Checkpoints

Troop Camp Certifications should be completed at least three months prior to outdoor adventures to allow sufficient time to prepare girls through progressive outdoor skill-building activities and experiences. Register for Troop Camp Certification here.

 

Troop Camp Certification Level One

Completion of Troop Camp Certification Level One means adult volunteers may guide girls on approved group outdoor experiences that include:

  • indoor sleeping or cabin camping
  • indoor cooking or dining

NOT COVERED: tent camping, wood-carving with pocket knives, any outdoor cooking, fire-building, or campfires.

Troop Camp Certification Level One may be completed as two independent studies, or one, three-hour interactive classroom experience.

 

Troop Camp Certification Level Two

Pre-requisite: Troop Camp Certification Level One. To safely prepare girls for camping experiences following the recommended progression guidelines, this course should be completed at least six months prior to taking girls on camping adventures.

Completion of Troop Camp Certification Level Two means adult volunteers may guide girls on approved outdoor experiences including:

  • overnight tent-camping
  • knife safety
  • fire-building and outdoor cooking with approved fuel sources
