Journeys & Badges

At every age level, girls have three Journey paths they can choose to follow!

  • It's Your World – Change It!
  • It's Your Planet – Love It!
  • It's Your Story – Tell It!

On each of these Journeys, everything girls do—whether performing science experiments, creating art projects, cooking simple meals, or learning to protect the planet's water supply—is aimed at giving them the benefits of the Girl Scout "Keys to Leadership": Discover, Connect, Take Action.

Here's how they work:

A girl Discovers her special skills and talents, finds the confidence to set challenging goals for herself and strives to live by her values. This includes being proud of where she came from, as well as where she's going.

A girl Connects with others, which means she learns how to team up, solve conflicts, and have healthy relationships. These skills help her in school right now and prepare her for any career she chooses in the future.

A girl Takes Action and makes the world a better place, learning a lot about her community and the world along the way.

You can see how these keys to leadership are linked to specific outcomes here.

Journeys & Skill Building Badges

The three Journey paths help today’s Girl Scouts learn what it takes to be a leader. Along the way, girls earn awards and skill-building badges.

Legacy Badges

Legacy Badges are based on themes that have been a part of Girl Scouts since the organization started in 1912.

Financial Literacy & Cookie Business Badges

There’s a lot to learn to become “One Smart Cookie.” And there’s a lot girl’s learn through our cookie program.

Make Your Own Badges

In the spirit of girl-led programming, we encourage girls to create badges if we don’t have one already!

Council’s Own Badges

The Council’s Own badge is a national award that provides a unique, local opportunity that girls cannot experience anywhere else.

Uniform Guide

Girl Scouts wear uniforms during ceremonies, when officially representing Girl Scouts, and when they want to share their Girl Scout pride.
