The Gift of Caring Program is a cookie donation opportunity. Some customers would rather donate a box of cookies than eat them – and the Gift of Caring option is the way they can. All donated cookies will be distributed at partner organizations serving people in need. This program helps girls learn about the importance of community service and giving back to the community. Gift of Caring purchases are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
There are two Gift of Caring options: The Troop option or the Council option. Troops can promote one or both programs, AND earn troop proceeds and girl rewards at the same time! Either way is fantastic for our Girl Scouts to reach out to the community with cookies.
The Council Gift of Caring Program designates cookies for distribution to our Gift of Caring Partners: St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, St. Vincent de Paul and USO Arizona.
St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger by gathering and distributing food to sites that serve the hungry. During the last 12 years, GSACPC has donated more than 130,000 boxes of cookies to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance through the Gift of Caring program.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the community and ending poverty through systemic change. A new partner to GSACPC Gift of Caring, all donated cookies will be distributed through their local dining facilities.
At Sky Harbor, USO Arizona provides military members and their families with a VIP area of their own, equipped with sofas and chairs, computers, large-screen televisions, games, a kitchen and children's play area. Girl Scout Cookies donated through the Gift of Caring program will be available as a special treat for servicemen and women visiting the VIP center.
The Troop Gift of Caring option allows troops to collect cookie donations and donate them to an organization of their choice in their community. It is important for troops to set a goal and select a specific organization prior to selling, so girls can effectively communicate this opportunity to customers. Each troop is responsible for delivering Troop Gift of Caring packages.
